GLASGOW AIRPORT

Glasgow Airport is Scotland's second largest and busiest international airport, with over forty airline companies using it.

The airport is operated and owned by BAA, and is looking to expand in the future with passenger numbers expected to go up from eight million to over twenty five million by 2035.

In 2009 the airport handled more than seven million passengers, making it the second busiest in Scotland, and 8th busiest airport in the UK. It was the first airport in Scotland to handle over a million passengers in a month, back in two thousand and four.

Glasgow International Airport is a hub airport for many airlines including Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airway, BMI Regional, EasyJet, Flybe and Loganair. It also has maintenance facilities for British Airways.

The other international airport branded as a Glasgow destination is Glasgow Prestwick Airport, located about thirty three miles from the Glasgow. This airport serves mostly low cost airlines.
